THE INAUGURAL IRISH NATIONAL STUDENT DRAMA SUMMIT
We are very excited to announce that Week 6 will bring the very first Irish National Student Drama Summit from the 23rd to the 26th February.
The inaugural Irish National Student Drama Summit will be a national event bringing together student actors, directors, designers and technicians for four days of intensive masterclasses, workshops and performances with some of Ireland and the UK’s most well-known theatre practitioners. We are in the process of hopefully securing major support and involvement from a number of institutions and have confirmed involvement from The Lir, Fishamble and Annie Ryan at Cornexchange. We are also in talks with practitioners from the RSC and The Abbey among others.
The summit will consist of four different ‘tracks’ on which students can enroll:
Directing
Performance
Writing
Design/Tech
In each of these ‘tracks’, enrolled students will go through intensive workshops and masterclasses over the four days to develop their skills in that field. Each ‘track’ will have a different format based on the ideas and preferences of the practitioners involved and will be sponsored through involvement by one major company.
In the evenings, students will gather together for events featuring Guest Speakers, Performers and local theatre trips. All in all, we hope that this will become an annual gathering that creates connections between the worlds of student and professional theatre.
Look out for more details in the coming weeks.
