Why hello there all you wonderful people!!! Hope you're having great craic during this fresher's week.
This is the form to fill out if you are cool, daring, curious and/or love to have fun!! It is the Players introductory Programme form; the PiPs form!!!!
Before you sign your life away though, to enter a revamped cooler life, let's breakdown PiPs for a second in case you don't know what it entails. PiPs is a theatre training course run every term here in DU Players, Europe's largest and most active drama society (legally obligated to say that). This programme is a wonderful opportunity for you to get a start in Players, learn a whole new area of theatre or to just have some fun with fantabulous new people :D These opportunities are yours for the taking and all are welcome!
Ooooo how exciting, how does it work? What a great question! By taking part in the programme, you'll be given the chance to learn about one of a range of aspects of theatre: Writing, Directing, Acting, Producing & Publicity, Lighting Design, Set Design, Costume Design or Production & Stage Management. The programme consists of 6 classes, across the next 5 weeks. Our wonderful PiPs teachers will pass on their reams of knowledge in whatever area you choose and get you introduced to the Players building. You'll then be handed the reins and given an opportunity to show off your newly found theatre talents in our big, amazing, live PiPs Showcase! Put on from the ground-up by all you stunning soon-to-be piplings. How exciting!!
In case all that wasn't enough to convince you to sign up, this year happens to be the 10th Year Anniversary of this programme!!! To commemorate this, I have decided to honour the tin, yes tin anniversary in a goofy way with this year's showcase theme; Tinfoil Hat. Use the art of theatre to explore all the whack ideas us humans come up with, as we pass around that metallic headwear. On top of all that, it is an surefire way to guarantee entry into all our fun denary celebrations that are soon to come.
You don't need a single bit of experience at all!! So whether you're a veteran or a rookie, a city dweller or a culchie, we would love to Come and Play :]]
